As a feared and known user of the Dark Side of the Force during the Clone Wars, Savage Opress was hand picked by Asajj Ventress to eventually take revenge against her former master Count Dooku. After pledging loyalty to Ventress, Savage Opress killed his younger brother Feral as a sign of dedication to his new master. As Savage Opress joined the war with the Confederacy of Independent Systems against the Galactic Republic, he also became a Sith apprentice to the Dark Lord Count Dooku. Dooku's plan was to use Opress to overthrow his own master, Darth Sidious.

As Opress was subjected to horrific training under Dooku's command, Ventress continued her plot to use the Nightbrother Opress against Dooku himself. Finally, when the time had come for Ventress to use Savage Opress to overthrow Dooku, both Dooku and Ventress found that Opress was far to impulsive and powerful to contain for their own purposes. After a three way lightsaber battle with Ventress and Dooku as well as battles with Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, Savage Opress eventually returned to Dathomir where he found out that he had another brother named Darth Maul. From there, Savage Opress set off to find his long lost brother Maul to continue his training in hopes that he would one day defeat any Jedi that crossed his path as well as Ventress and Dooku for what they had done.
