Mace Windu was a well respected Jedi that was inline with Yoda and was also a senior member of the Jedi High Council. His knowledge, drive and wisdom were known throughout the galaxy and his very words often drove the decisions of the Council.

While in the Republic, Windu often spent his time in the Jedi Temple. He continuously spoke with Yoda and the other ten members of the Council about the nature of the Force and the actions of the Jedi Knights. Windu was very knowledgeable in Jedi history and philosophy. When Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn came to the Council with a candidate to fulfill the prophecy of the Chosen One, it was Windu who was hesitant. Against his better judgment, he finally agreed that Anakin Skywalker could be tested for the potential to become a Jedi.

Windu was a believer that words were stronger than actions. However, as the galaxy began to fall apart, Windu began to question some of his own beliefs.
