The Jawas were short scavenger creatures of the planet Tatooine. Their lives consisted of combing their planets desert wasteland for scrap metal and miscellaneous parts which they would piece together into make shift machines. As they crawled the desert, they would collect their treasures within their large transport vehicles called Sandcrawlers. With a reputation for swindling, they would try to sell their outdated machines, parts and droids to the local moisture farmers in their region.
Jawas were often easily identified thanks to their small rodent like bodies, brown robes, glowing yellow eyes and high pitched chattering in their native language or Jawaese. They were also known for their strong potent smell which was usually unbearable to other species. From this, Jawa could identify each other, their mood, clan lineage and even their age. Although they carried a mysterious appearance and freightened droids, most of them were very timid creatures solely focused on finding more technology within the desert sand.
